i have practiced loads this week...frustrated because i didn't make it out to practice today, and today was a perfect day for slalom outside. took my car to the shop because it needs all sorts of work, which will mean investing all sorts of money that i wanted to set aside for europe and asia this summer.
i am also frustrated because i am not in the mood to plan a freestyle competition, and yet there is one happening in boston that i am supposed to plan.
i am excited because there will be lots of great skaters coming to the competition, people i really look up to.
i have been diligent about stretching out and practicing footgun and it's come along significantly in less than a week's time. at this rate it will definitely be ready for the summer. i also started working on the one they call christie...i think. it's where you bring your foot around behind the stationary one and grab it that way...it's awkward, doesn't look stylish at all, and i don't like it...but it requires flexibility and training and i think it's worth a lot of points in competition. not that i think about points too often, but i do think about trick variety.
i am supposed to go to the dan deacon show in providence tomorrow but i have absolutely no desire to do that because i would much rather practice. i think i am going to skate downtown on the last of my wheels (i go through them so fast, it's sickeningly expensive), change them out, and then have a marathon session in the park on Shrewsbury Street. it's been awhile since i've skated through the city, especially during the day, so that should be an interesting experience.
i would be skating tonight, even just around the city (city skates at night are my favorite...straight down the middle of the road at top speed is great...i wonder how fast), but i am meeting the dj for the competition presently and we are probably going to sit around and have a few while talking about music, which isn't such a bad night either.
i need to plan and figure out competition expenses tomorrow, but i just want to train.
i worked on a combination last night. i meant to finish up my session when the sun went down but i stubbornly held out until i finished one run down and back up the 80's. i would have kept going but i kept messing up a cone on my left heel/right toe clockwise compass towards the end and i thought it best to cease pushing the issue as i began to scream "fuck shit damn" at the cones, and that's just unnecessary. i was tired. i had been out for hours. the compass is fine and i'm sure i'll do it perfectly tomorrow.
